Neapolitan Cupcake & Gift Shoppe

A customer of ours was throwing a “Pea in a Pd” baby shower with over 100 guests and wanted something special for the shower that brought theme to life in a delicious way. Our challenge was to make a tasty and edible pea pod, which eliminated fondant and forced some creative sleuthing at the grocery store. We found that Air Heads are quite malleable and a great replacement for fondant when needing to sculpt a cupcake decoration. Given the color required by the pea pod, we landed on Watermelon Air Heads. For the peas, we used sixlets, which arguably do not complement watermelon, but the outcome was simply brilliant and our customer absolutely loved them!
